AI tutor & vision

The mobile app includes AI features that help students learn on their own
between sessions.

AI tutor

The AI tutor is a chat assistant inside the student app. A student can ask a
question about what they're studying and get a clear, step-by-step explanation —
like having a patient teacher available any time. It's there to help them
understand the material, not to hand over answers to graded work.

Good ways students use it:

  • "Explain this concept in simpler terms."
  • "Walk me through how to solve a problem like this."
  • "Why is my answer wrong?"

Vision

The vision feature lets a student point their phone camera at something —
handwritten notes, a printed page, a worked problem, a diagram — and ask about
it. The AI reads what's in the image and responds. It's useful for getting help
with material that isn't already typed out.

For instructors

The AI features live in the student app; there's nothing you need to configure
per cohort to let students use the tutor. You can see how actively a cohort is
using the AI tutor in cohort analytics under AI engagement, which
helps you gauge whether students are studying between sessions.

Good to know

The AI is a study aid. It can occasionally be wrong, so students should treat its
explanations as a starting point and check them against the course material.
