The gradebook

The gradebook collects every graded item in a cohort — quizzes, assignments — and
turns them into each student's standing.

Categories and weights

Grades are organized into categories (for example Quizzes, Assignments,
Final). Each category carries a weight — a percentage of the final grade.
The weights across your categories should add up to 100%.

A worked example:

A student's final percentage is the weighted average of their category averages.
Empty categories (nothing graded yet) are excluded so early-term grades aren't
dragged down by work that hasn't happened.

Grading scales

You set the scale that turns a percentage into a letter or pass/fail mark.
The default pass threshold is 60%, but each cohort can override it — useful when a
program has its own passing bar.

Entering grades

• Quiz scores arrive automatically when students submit (see Quizzes).
• Assignments are entered by hand: open the gradebook, find the column, and

type each student's score.

You can leave a cell blank for work not yet submitted; it stays out of the average
until you enter a score.

Export

Export the gradebook to CSV for your records or to share with your institution.
The export reflects exactly what's on screen, including current category averages.

How grades drive analytics

A student whose grade falls below the cohort's pass threshold may be flagged in
cohort analytics as at-risk, so you can reach out early.
