Build a quiz
Quizzes let you check understanding and feed grades into the
gradebook.
Create a quiz
- Open the course or cohort and go to Quizzes.
- Add a new quiz and give it a title.
- Add questions. Supported types include multiple choice (one correct answer),
multiple select, and true/false. Each question carries a point value.
- Set the basics: time limit (optional), number of attempts allowed, and whether
answers are shown after submitting.
Auto-grading
Objective questions are graded automatically the moment a student submits, so
scores appear in the gradebook without you marking anything by hand. If you allow
multiple attempts, you choose whether the gradebook keeps the highest or the most
recent score.
Publish and assign
A quiz stays a draft until you publish it. Publish it to a cohort to make it
available to that roster; students see it in the app and can take it within any
window you set.
Review results
After students submit, the quiz results view shows per-student scores and a
per-question breakdown — useful for spotting a question everyone missed (often a
sign the question, not the class, is the problem). Quiz scores flow into the
gradebook under whichever category you've mapped them to.
Tips
- Keep point values consistent so weighting in the gradebook stays predictable.
- Use the per-question breakdown to retire confusing questions between cohorts.
